Coffee and water waiting in the vehicle. The early start beats both the heat and the crowds at the Rock.

Sri Lankan breakfast
A roadside stop near Kurunegala: hoppers, kottu or string hoppers with fresh Ceylon tea. Where your driver-guide eats, not where the coaches stop.

Sigiriya Lion Rock
The climb past the frescoes, the Mirror Wall and the Lion's Paws to the summit. Around two and a half to three hours at an unhurried pace.

Rice and curry
A sit-down Sri Lankan lunch near Sigiriya before the temple.

Dambulla Golden Cave Temple
Five caves, more than 150 Buddha statues and centuries of painted ceilings.

Sigiriya is roughly 1,200 steps with steel staircases over open drops. Most reasonably fit people manage it comfortably at their own pace. If stairs or heights are a problem, Dambulla and Pidurangala are gentler alternatives and we're happy to rebuild the day around them — just tell us when you book.
