The experience
What you'll do
Arrive by catamaran as the sun sets over Etawarathenna Lake, then step into Kalubandara's farmhouse — a home surrounded entirely by paddy fields, lit only by Petromax lamps. Cook your own Sri Lankan dinner using ancient methods and a full spice rack of local herbs, with a welcome juice on arrival and an arrack cocktail or beer with dinner. Zero plastic, and the raw materials are bought from the paddy-house family themselves. Dinner is cooked with the farmer's wife or grandmother, who is paid for her teaching; part of proceeds fund sports activities at Audangawa Primary College.
What's included
- Catamaran ride to the farmhouse
- Sunset on the lake
- Cooking experience + authentic Sri Lankan dinner buffet
- Petromax lamp lighting
- Organic fruit juice welcome drink
- One Sri Lankan arrack cocktail or beer
