What you'll do
While Yala's jeeps queue bumper to bumper, Maduru Oya stays wonderfully empty. This is one of Sri Lanka's least-visited national parks — a landscape of reservoirs, grasslands and rocky outcrops where elephants come down to drink and endemic birds outnumber tourists hundreds to one. Your safari jeep, guide and binoculars are arranged; you just watch.
