The experience
What you'll do
Danigala is a place where prehistory, legend and raw nature meet. Believed in Ramayana lore to be the landing site of King Ravana's Dadumonara, the mountain also sheltered a 2nd-century BC Buddhist monastery — one cave still holds the remains of a 38-foot recumbent Buddha. The hike climbs 90 minutes through jungle to a summit with full 360-degree views across three provinces: paddy fields, lakes and forest reserves rolling to the horizon.
